To A Very Special Woman
Yesterday, I was given the chance to lead the Sabbath School program. It was a nice feeling to be a superintendent again even for just one Sabbath. But it was indeed a Sabbath to remember. The church provided tokens for all the mothers present in the congregation while Ellen Joy Comia sang "An Angel to Watch Over Me" as a tribute song. It goes like this:
She watched by my cradle through long, sleepless nights
She taught me to pray as she knelt by my side
She guarded my childhood, and all through the years
She echoed my laughter, she counted my tears
In the arms of my mother, I came to believe
That God sent an angel to watch over me
She taught me the meaning of courage and faith
She taught me to live with the Lord as my strength
She taught me to follow the pathway He marked
She guided my steps when the journey grew dark
And I know there were dangers that I could not see
But God sent an angel to watch over me
She taught me to serve with a spirit that sings
She taught me to seek after heavenly things
And because of her love and her kindness and care
Because of the place that I hold in her prayers
And because of her goodness, I still believe
That God sent an angel to watch over me
She watched by my cradle through long, sleepless nights

Prior to the Tribute to Mothers, I had the opportunity to show my appreciation to the most important woman in my life...my mom. I read a simple poem for her. I entitled it with her name -- HOLIDAY.
Happy and grateful are to describe how I feel
In sharing this poem I made 'bout someone so dear
On this very special Sabbath morn', please give way
Let us celebrate what we call "A Mother's Day!"
Light of the family, she gives guidance and joy
Her hugs and kisses are better than a stuff toy
I thank my mom for all the sacrifices made
Time, support given, and the things she bought and paid
Doctor is she, good in taking away the pain
My best friend, sounding board, and comfort through the rain
Amidst sorrows and problems, you were there for me
You bring my spirits up, though how tough life can be
You are one of the reasons of my existence
And I always thank God for your loving presence.
I love you, mom. Thanks for everything.
To all the heroines of our lives, Happy Mother's Day! :)
