Life and Love

George O'Malley:
"It's not that I don't care…Because I do care...I just can't tell you what you wanna hear; which seems to be a theme in my life right now...Just 'cause you can't say something, doesn't mean you don't want to, you want to very much. You can be with one person and be happy with them and not love them. Or you can love someone and not wanna be with them. You don't need to love someone to want them. But it's frustrating. When your brain tells you what you want and what you actually want don't match up. It's exhausting. And it's complicated..."

One of my schoolmates said, "Life is simple…We just make it complicated." I kind of agree with him. The problem with us is that we often say things we don't mean and we mean to say things but we don't. Just like in the case of Dr. O'Malley. And that's what makes us unhappy. But does saying things we mean and not saying things we don't mean guarantee us happiness?

Why do you say you love a person when you think it's better that you grow separately? Why can't you grow together?

Why do people stay in a relationship even if they don't love each other with their whole hearts? Probably they are scared to be alone… Others would say they don't want to hurt their partners by leaving them. But isn't it also hurtful to stay and live a lie?

Why do some people keep on loving someone they can't be with? Why can't some people love the persons who want to be with them?

A friend of mine said to me before that there are no clear cut rules when it comes to love. It's true. Because love knows no boundaries. But we have to be very careful not to confuse love with lust or infatuation (both of which are associated with mere physical attraction).

I'm not a guru when it comes to love but all I know is that relationships fail because they are built on a wrong foundation. People are sinners and weak. If we just depend on ourselves, we would end up with nothing. But God is Omnipotent. And God is love. So if we make Him the center of our relationships, I think that everything will fall into its right place. Pray to God when you feel sad or alone, pray to God when you are tempted, pray to God when you are having problems with your partner, pray to God when you need help in making a decision in your life. We just have to always pray for God's will in our lives. God's answer to our prayers may not be always what we WANT, but He only gives us what is BEST. And knowing that we'll only have what is best should be enough reason to keep us happy (even if you are single or you simply feel alone right now). So be patient, true love might be just around the corner… ;)
